1 fan/light, 2 dimmer switches, lots of wires. Please help!

We want to replace our ceiling fan/light in our room and replace the 2 dimmer switches with regular ones(1 or 2, I don't care. I just want it done). However, there are lots of wires, and the whole thing looks like a squid coming out of the wall. 3 white wire all capped together, and 3 black wires, 2 together and one by itself. This is out of BOTH boxes. Any ideas?

Have you replaced the light fixture in the ceiling, yet? You didn't ask any questions about that, so we'll have to concentrate on the switching until you respond.
Basically, the white wires should stay capped to each other like they are. They are your neutrals and have nothing to do with switching. You say "both" boxes. Are there two locations where this switching takes place?
It may help if you were to take pictures of the squid and post it so we can see what you see. We'll get you going after that. http://www.doityourself.com/forum/el...your-post.html
