3-way wiring questions

I've got a ceiling fan/light that is currently switched together in a 3-way connection. I would like to add a switch at one of the 2 switch locations for a fan-only switch.

Do I have to run 14-2 from the j-box in the ceiling to the new switch, then back to the j-box to make that work? Or can I get power from the other switch in the existing switch box?

This is how the fan/light is currently wired in this 3-way configuration.

If you are following that exact diagram.....then you'll only need a two wire from the switch to the ceiling box. It will be switching hot only.....so you'll need to tape the white another color so that it doesn't get confused as a neutral.

so what you're saying is:

- fan-white, light-white, power source-white are together
- fan-switch black goes with fan black
- fan-switch white (taped) goes with power source black
