Is it ok to use #12 wire on switches, outlets & lights where you would normaly use #14?

A few notes about wire size. NEC requires #14 minimum with a 15 amp fuse or breaker; #12 for a 20 amp; and #10 for a 30 amp. You can always go higher in gage but never smaller. And #14 wire is the minimum wire size allowed by the NEC for 120 volt AC electrical circuits in a dwelling.

Also, most of the pros who hang around here recomment that people doing their own electrical work adopt #12 as their minimum wire size for everything. So you're just being smart going with the #12.
