Hi Everyone,
I could do with some help please!
Issue
- Power outlet doesn't work, hairdrier makes a buzzing sound
- Light Switch works as normal
- If switch is off, and you turn the hairdrier on, it turns on the light
- Test button pops out Reset switch and red light comes on. Push reset switch into turn off red light
Wiring
- 2 live black wires going to the 2 lower GFCI load terminals at the bottom
- These then go to the two switch terminals at the top of the GFCI
- No other wires going to GFCI (i.e. no white wire), No wires to line terminals
- I can see a a white wire in the socket but it looks like it it has been piggybacked a couple of times, I will try to get some pics of all of this
I guess the previous owners didnt know what they were doing and jut wired in the switch and could be bothered to wire up the outlet properly?
Thanks
Leon

Welcome to the forums!
The GFCI should not work at all with two hot wires connected to it. How did you test to determine that they were both hot?
The receptacle needs to have a hot, a neutral and a ground from a single 120V circuit terminated to it. The light switch may need a separate feed, but may not. The neutral for the light fixture should be spliced to the other neutrals in the box.
Is there any cable feeding out to other devices that need GFCI protection?
