proper fuse
#1

hi there,
This might be a simple question for someone so i would appreciate any help. I have a door bell and the fuse is blown in it. Now the fuse is in the door button and it doesnt tell how many amps it is. Both fuses are the same. I looked at the transformer and it says 15VA anf 16 volts on it. I would like to put in the best fuse for it and would appreciate any help i can get..
The fuse doesn have a number on it but cant trace it anywhere.
JKLGF962 and its a miami-carey door chime if that helps any.
the bells been up there for many yrs and we just moved into the home last month.
thanks agian

There must be some reason that your fuse blew. Be aware of the cause before you install a new fuse. The fuse size will be less than one amp. You might go on a URL through the search engines on the net and find miami carey home page email for the fuse size. Or go to you electrical supply house and ask them to order a fuse matching that part number.

Or take the fuse with you to Radio Shack, True Value or Home Depot, etc. Many times a universal fuse type is used by manufacturers to save design costs.
If you're not primarily a good electrical troublshooter, I say go ahead and throw a new fuse in there. If there's a problem the new one will blow and you'll know you have to decide how best to correct the problem -trace the wiring yourself or call a pro. Good luck.
