Converting 3 blade 220v plug to 4 blade...Please help....

I hope I'm posting this in the right area.I appreciate any input as I have no knowledge in electrical.I have a concrete floor grinder that requires 220v to run.My plan was to hook it up to my 5500 watt generator in the 120/240v outlet.My dilemma is that the plug on the machine is a 3 blade and the the generator takes a 4 blade connector.Can I swap the plugs out ? If so what wires go where? thanks for any help...

You can make an adapter. Use a four prong plug (male cord cap) to fit your generator, short length of 3-xx SO cord and a 3 prong female cord cap to fit your grinder plug.. The black and white of the SO cable will go to the hots of the plug and female cord cap. No connection to the neutral on the male plug end. Green wire of the SO cable goes to the grounds on each end. "xx" refers to the size of the SO cable which is based on anticipated load.

Exposed Romex in attached garage

Looking for a way to safely and coded to conceal these romex wires. They are running from the garage attic into an interior living space. Can i just box it with sheetrock to protect them? By the way they were ran this way becase of no access to drill down into wall. Hard to explain but this was only option.Read More

In my basement there is an opening to the crawl space that is under my family room. The opening and crawl space is VERY cold (and makes my finished basement cold) so I wanted to fill the opening (leading to the crawl space) with insulation but the previous owners but an electrical outlet in the opening. This outlet was the last one on the circuit and I found the outlet it was connected to (i.e. the previous outlet on the circuit). I disconnected the crawlspace outlet and also disconnected it from the previous outlet (i.e. both ends of the romex wire). I couldn't pull the romex out of the wall completely because it must be stapled behind the drywall, so here's what I did: 1) Put the loose end of the romex (where the crawlspace outlet was) inside a junction box. I didn't use wire nuts or anything. I just put the romex inside the junction box. 2) On the previous outlet (the outlet was connected to this one), I pushed the romex out of the box the best I could.
