Labeled yellow romex coming from main level

I have posted a myriad of other questions on a different post, so I figured I'd start fresh with this question. While starting to finish my basement, I discovered a yellow 2 wire romex coiled on a floor joist labeled "bath." It is coming from the area of a bathroom on the main level, but there is another wire from the panel going up the same hole. I can speculate that is could be a power source from the main level bath, but there are no connections on the end of the wire. Could this be hot and dangerous? Any guesses as to what it may be used for?

get a meter to see if it is live. check it several different ways with different switch positions for all switches in your bath too.

you guess is as good as anybodies for what it is for (maybe someone put it in there to add a heater or fan in the future, but it could be anything or nothing.

This might be a feed for the bathroom receptacle.

Will there be a bathroom in the basement?

yes, the coil of extra wire labeled "bath" is above the area of the roughed in bath

Then it may have been run into the panel but not tied in.
You could take the panel cover off to see if that cable is just laying in there waiting to be connected.

there is no unconnected cable in the breaker box, looks like I will be doing some more investigating. Or........I just leave it be!
