Question about a 15 amp circuit

Hi all. I have a very basic question that I feel a little goofy asking about but I tend to be over cautious when it comes to electricity. Just wondering if I can have 2 light fixtures (one is flourescent) and an outlet on the same circuit. The outlet is being used to power the washing machine and the 2 lights are in the laundry room as well. The circuit is wired with 14/2 and is protected with a 15 amp fuse. Would it be worthwhile replacing the 14/2 with 12/2 and upping the fuse to a 20 amp or would the 15 amp be able to handle the load safely? Sorry. I know this is beginner stuff but just want to be safe.

Thanks to all

You should be over cautious. Those that would choose to haphazardly do something like this could get hurt. I would leave the 14-2 and 15 amp circuit and run the lights off that, then run a 12-2 and 20 amp circuit dedicated to the washing machine.
