Ground Wire Behind Receptacle Box

Hi guys,

I have a house that was built in the mid 60's. The house has 3-wire Romex, but for every single receptacle box in the house, the ground wires are tucked back behind the metal receptacle boxes. I am replacing the two-prong outlets with 3s, but I need to ground them and am not sure how to do it correctly. Can I run a ground wire from the outlet to the back of each box? Or do I need to cut out each of the boxes to get to the ground wire and then replace each of the boxes with cut-ins?

Thanks...

From the box is fine once you have verified with a multimeter you have ~120 volts from hot to the metal box.
