Question in need of help hooking up tanning bed

My girlfriend got a tanning bed and has been bugging me to hook it up. According to the manual it says it operates at 220v ac source. It requires a 6-20r outlet on a dedicated circuit capable of providing 20 amp service and must be earth grounded. Just hoping for some advice on what i would need to do this and how it should be done?

Welcome to the forums! The 6-20r will have a grounding lug on it. You will be running 10-2 NM wg. Is there a timer associated with this bed, or is it ahead of the receptacle?

Actually you will be running 240 volt version of Canadian NM that has red, black, bare. Are you sure it will run on 240 also since you don't really have 220?

Tanning beds are typically 220v (European standard) and not 240v. You will need a buck-boost transformer or you will be blowing those expensive bulbs. There are some other threads on this issue so do a search.

It does have a timer that is part of the bed. It says to ensure a voltage between 208 and 230.

Then you will need to get a hold of a meter because more than likely you're going to find 240 vac in your house.
If you find a voltage higher than what they recommend you'd better contact them for advice.
