Install window with wires in the way...Help!

Need to install a bedroom egress window in a reno'd space. 10 wires happen to come thru one of the two channels we opened for this. The wires have some limited give, but not enough to completely set them along the headers and stud. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Can send photos. Thanks. Bob

Welcome to the forums.

Ten cables ......that must be a direct path to .... or near the panel. Probably made the perfect power wiring chase. Minimal holes needed to be drilled.

Pictures would definitely be a help.

Bob, I have moved this to Electrical because that is really the problem you have, not a windows problem. http://www.doityourself.com/forum/li...-pictures.html

No electrical cables should be run within the framing for a window. You can either move the opening over one bay or install two large junction boxes, one above the opening and one below it, and use those to splice in a jumper for each cable.

The junction boxes must remain accessible (not buried in the wall) and if that wouldn't be acceptable and you can't move the window over then you will need to replace the cables. We are assuming AC cables not comunication.
