outlet replacement

I am replacing some outlets in a 1950's built house. black, white, and ground coming into metal outlet box, but the ground is connected to the outlet box only. What should I do?

1) disconnect ground from box and wire directly to outlet
or
2)run a connector ground wire from outlet box to outlet
or
3) pigtail incoming ground wire and connect to both the outlet box and outlet

Welcome to the forums! Door #2 or #3, either one. The grounding conductor must be connected to both the box and the receptacle.
