wire to boat lift motor

I need to wire up a boat lift motor (115 volt) I want to tie into my garagae, that is on a seperate 20 amp ckt. Distance is about 100feet. I was thinking of #10 wire.
Can I tie #10 wire to a ckt that is #12 wire with a 20amp ckt bkr?

Yes you can upsize wire because of distance. What is the full load amps of the lift? What other loads do you usually use on the circuit? Were you going to use cable or conduit?

I need to check the motor HP and amp (I think it's 1 1/2 hp) Just normal outlets in the garage -- no big loads. I think I will run pvc conduit, with 3-#10 in case I want to add some lights). Lots of opinions about uf in conduit, not sure if I will use UF or single cables.
Thanks for the feedback

Best practice is don't use UF in conduit. It is a sun of a gun to pull. If the wire or cable is GFCI protected you only need to bury it one foot. I'd suggest conduit with THWN.

Are you thinking of one circuit for both the lift motor and the lights, or one circuit for each?

One ckt for both. Only talking about a couple of light --- if any.

OK. Ballpark, I figured your motor at 10 amps. #10 conductors will let you load up to 14 amps at 120V and 100' before the voltage drop exceeds 3%.

You may be fine with this plan. Double-check the draw for your motor.
