I have a Rheem EcoSense On Demand 13kW 240 Volt Tankless Electric Water Heater

Rheem EcoSense, On Demand 13kW 240 Volt Tankless Electric Water Heater, RETE 13 at The Home Depot - Mobile

Its has 8/2 wire comming out the unit with no ground just 2 wires white and black. I bought 6/3 wire is that the right wire or should I use 6/2. And should I use a switch if so what one. Thanks for any advice anyone can give me.

No you need 6-2. A 60 amp unfused AC disconnect switch at the heater would work fine. Can your panel handle an additional 60 amps? Do you have electric heat, stove, dryer etc.

6-3 would be used on a 120/240 circuit not a 240v circuit. The white of the 6-2 will need to be redesignated as an ungrounded conductor with tape or felt tip marker. Usual colors are red or black but any colors except gray or green can be used.
