Doorbell light triggers chimes???

I am installing a new doorbell button... Button works well. Except when I install the bulb... It triggers continuous chimes. Help?

Welcome to the forums.

Is that a mechanical chime or an electronic unit ?

Usually the lamp used in a lighted pushbutton is extremely low draw and won't trigger most doorbells..... but there a few exceptions..... especially with the solid state electronic chimes.

I'm thinking mine is a SS unit... : Wireless Doorbell Extender. Checked the manual and called the company... No suggestions. Thoughts?

My guess is that one of the hot wires may be touching a ground.. Start by reviewing your wiring. I hope this little tip helps.. Good luck, I will try to keep looking for a better answer to give you soon!

I was reading the data sheet and it says to use a normally open switch. It must see the lamp as a partial short.

The only way around this problem I can see is to use a small 12-20 vac relay.
