Can someone tell me whether an exposed junction box in a closet passes code? I want to run armor-clad 12/2 into a junction box in the back corner of my closet floor, then distribute power from there to some outlets and a closet light. The light would be installed by running more AC wire from the junction box, up the corner of the closet wall, to an overhead light. Then I would run more AC wire behind the baseboards to an adjoining room. I would like to avoid puting the junction box inside my plaster walls if I can. But I also want to make sure it passes code. My city follows the NEC with no amendments.

As long as the junction box remains accessible (and the wires inside), you should be fine.
