Help Adding Sensor light to Garadge Wireing

Hello, and thank to anyone who will try to assist me.
My garage keeps getting broken into so i need to put a sensor light in the back on the outside. There is currently one electrical wire coming in which goes to a light switch then to the light inside the garage.

I just want to confirm that I can tap into the wire before the light switch and run a line to the back of the garage, to a switch (to control the sensor light) then to the sensor light. Attached is 2 visual aids so you can kinda see what i need.

And if this is possible do i just put in a Junction box and do the tap in wiring in there. DO the junction have to be a certain distance away from the indoor light switch? Or can i put it right under on the 2x4, ( there is no drywall or anything, framing is all open)

Welcome to the forums.

You can take power out of the first switch junction box to run the second light. You could also change the single switch box to a two gang box and put both switches there.

It is perfectly acceptable for the romexs to be next to each other for the two different lights.
