How to wire an outlet so its incoming power is controlled by a switch? I am taking a guess here:

Wire an outlet as if it was a light fixture.

Is that correct?

I want to be able to control a plug-in appliance (small fan) with a switch.

Thank you in advance!
Jeff

A light is an outlet as is a receptacle which is what you are installing. Yes, all outlets are wired the same either using a switch loop or if power comes to the switch first a switched supply to the outlet.
