Hot ground wire?

Separated from: http://www.doityourself.com/forum/el...ound-wire.html

Hello everyone,,
As strange as it may seem it is true there are ground wires that are hot,,,
I used a tester, one side touching the hot and the other side touching the water pipe I have 110volts,,,then touched the gas pipe in same sequence ,, 110 volts again but neutral to ground nothing,,,am working on this problems as I write,,have a great day I'll be back in the afternoon and post what I find...

Welcome to the forums.

You will see 120v from hot to ground.... whether that ground is a water pipe or gas pipe.

You should never see voltage from neutral to ground.
Technically they are at the same potential and from neutral to ground is a dead short.
