Switch at end of circute.....sort of

Power source is located in NW corner of detached garage. Switch is located at SE corner. 4 lights are located 1 in each quarter of ceiling. Can I run 14/2 from power source to light#1, then 14/3 to light #2, ending this wire run here. Back at light #1, run 14/3 to light #3, then light #4, and end at switch. Question is light #2. Is this light considered out of "series" and/or "loop" and unacceptable? Wiring this way reduces some of the zig and zag to get from panel to switch.

Welcome to the forums!

You don't need 3-conductor cable between light #1 and light #2. At light #1 splice the black from the power source to the black in the 3-conductor to light#3, etc. Splice both the hot feed for light #1 and the black going to light#2 to the red in the 3-conductor cable.

Thanks, Nashkat1
Makes sense, which isn't always acceptable.
