How do I wire this motor?
Hi all. My apologies if this is in the wrong place but for the life of me I cannot work out how to wire this old capacitor start motor:
Gryphon Brook Motors
Single phase 230\240 V
5.5A 1HP
2850RPM
I want to use it to build a disc sander which will allow access to the belt drive on the other end for running other tools but do not know how to wire it or the gauge wire I need. See attached picture.
Any help would be great.

Motor Wiring
Hi Andy,
Have you had any luck with this at all?
I have a very similar motor, mounted in a Bench saw.
The way my one was wired was;
A1 = Phase
A2 = Neutral
There was a timer switch and a start capacitor (108 to 140uF).
The capacitor was connected across A1 to Z1
Timer switch was connected thus;
Black wire to A2
Red wire to A1 &
Yellow wire Z1.
Wired in this way, it ran for about 15 seconds before triggering the overload I have everything wired to.
The timer switch had a burnt plastic mark on the underside, so I'm guessing that it had failed to open.
Being Christmas holidays, everything is shut, but hoping to get a new timer switch soon and to wire it up again.
