Ground Rod
So, i've completed an installation of a 100 amp subpanel in a detatached garage.. and i'm trying to sort out the ground rods... My question is how many do i need? I can not seem to locate the requirement for the number of rods in the 2011 NEC? 1 or 2? or the wire size...
thanks

The number of ground rods needed is not specified in the code, only the requirement for a low-impedance path to ground. The means needed to meet that requirement is a local decision based on the conductivity of the soils in your area.
Ask your inspector.

Unless you can prove less than 25 ohms resistance on one rod you will need another one. If using a Ufer ground, you do not need any rods.
