Retrofit wire pulling

I had to add a wire to an existing junction box by fishing it in one of the knockouts on the box in a finished ceiling.

My question is how do I get a cable connector on that wire? I have zero access to the outside of the box because it is in a finished ceiling. Is it ok to install the cable connector on the inside of the junction box?

All opinions appreciated.

Tie a string to the cable, pull it back out, attach the connector (remove the locknut), pull the cable back in with the string. Then just slip the locknut on and gently tighten it by tapping a flatblade against the locknut with pliers.
