Cable Size?

I am in the process of building a large outdoor deck. I have ordered --Coleman Cable 12/2 Low Voltage Lighting Cable. This weekend, I will start building the handrails and I need to know what size hole to drill to accept this cable
Does anyone know the measurements of the outside jacket?

You should be able to fit this through a 1/2". I would just wait til the cable gets there and measure it if you need to buy a bit.

Yes I could wait but that's a waste of time. The cable will exit each post, at the top and will be drilled down at an angle to just under the horizontal top rail. Each spindle will have a 45 degree cut for cable clearance. There will be a horizontal hole drilled through each post to allow cable to go through post. This horizontal hole must be drilled before handrail is installed.
Surely someone will know the smallest size hole that the cable will SLIP through.

I would not drill them till I had them in hand. Enlarging holes can be a SOB. Sometime drill wander.

Being a retired Tool&Die Maker, I am well aware of what you are talking about. When I do a job of this size, I make a drill fixture so that every hole is Horizontal--Vertical--or Angled the same.
That way if one is wrong ALL ARE WRONG---LOL
