another electrical issue

I have 3 lights I am trying to connect to one switch. My problem is the switch is not powered. the power actually comes in the box where the first light is that is closet to the switch. so no power at the switch. I connected all blacks together then all whites together and breaker tripped. I am stumped. Can someone point me in the right direction please? Thanks.

The new lights need to be connected to the existing light or you need to replace the cable to the switch with a 3-conductor cable.

If you connected all the blacks and whites together, including the black and white from the switch, then that's the problem. That is a switch loop and technically both wires are "black". Connect the white wire from the switch to the black hot group in your ceiling box. Then connect the black wire to your black going to your lights.

The white wire from the switch to the hot wire(s) in the ceiling box. Black wire from switch to black wire on light. All other white(s) wire nutter together and connected to the white wire of the light via pigtail.
