Help Finding Lost Power

I have two outside lights with one switch. I have no power at the switch. I used a toner and was able to trace it in the attic but then it goes down between a wall with a few other romex cables and then I lose it. I can tone it from there (where it goes down the wall) to the subpanel. I have power at the breaker (at least I'm pretty sure I've identified the correct breaker). I'm pretty much lost as to where to go from here.

Be extremely careful toning any live circuit or a circuit that could suddenly become live. Most tone generators will explode when 120vac is applied to them.

It's pretty hard for us to help you. You need to determine a path and follow it. I'm assuming there are two 14-2 NM cables in the switch box ?

If you think you know which breaker controls the problem circuit..... turn it off and see what goes dead. Chances are that the problem is at one of the locations that had power and lost it when the breaker was turned off.

I ended up looking again today and found a removed switch but that was also providing power to the other switch so I rewired it and all is good.

Thanks!
