Newby Question abiut AC/DC adaptors

Hi I have recently received a NOOK tablet from a friend but I noticed the AC/DC USB power adaptor was missing. The question I have is I have a power strip with like three regular wall plugs and it also has two 1.0 amp usb charging outlets on it. I know this might sound dumb to some but I was wondering are the USB charging outlets the same as a adaptor. The nook says it requires 1 to 3 amp to charge. Could I just plug it in, or do I have to go purchase a USB power adaptor for it.? Thanks in advance

If the original charger had a USB plug then you can bet it's the standard 5V output and almost any USB adapter will work. One limitation though is that most USB cables will not pass 1 amp or more so to get the fast recharge you will need to specifically buy a USB charging cable.
