Craftsman compressor won't run

I have a small craftsman compressor with issues. First off the regulator control button broke off, so the tank would just build pressure but I could never get any air to come out.

I took the regulator off and tried to run it without it. After doing this it won't come on at all. I took the cover off the pressure switch and there is a little push button on top. If i push on that it runs.

It looks like the cover is supposed to push on that switch sort of like a safety switch to only run with cover on, however it will NOT run with the cover on so apparently the cover does not in fact contact it.

Anyone have any ideas on what I should do?

I think I'd order the proper repair parts online from Sears, you'll need to use the full model number to find the right parts.

Your pressure switch should have a lever on it like in the picture below. If not maybe it was broken off.

The part I'm showing is the pressure switch. You can get it from Sears or eReplacment which is in the link below. Part # E- 100095 from Sears. In the link it's pictorial A-47.
