Switched 240v outlet

I have a 6-20 240v outlet in my garage for my compressor that I want to put a toggle switch. I have a double pole 277 20amp switch. Can I used that or do I need a motor rated switch? Since the compressor will have is own on and off pressure switch anyways?

That switch will work fine as a disconnect method. It may not last too long if it's used a means to actually connect a running compressor.

All compressors have a pressure switch so I'm not sure how that would affect a disconnect switch.
