Hey guys, need some help here before i proceed to purchase the parts.
can this be actually used to make a powerbank? I dont wanna blow up my device one day lol. my plan is to actually make one with 4x AA rechargeable batteries in it. At 1.2v each with a total of 4.8v

I've never heard the term powerbank but if you are asking will this boost the 4.8 volts of four AA rechargeable batteries to something like 12 volts or less then the answer is yes. How long those AAs will last will be dependent upon the load of the device you are going to power.
I use a similar device, only sealed, to maintain a constant 12 volts to my Internet fiber optic terminal and 5 volts to the router and VoIP telephone adapter with a varying DC voltage input and standby battery. Been doing it for more than a year with no problems whatsoever.

Personally I'd just buy one of the ready made products. They are commonly available, inexpensive and have a multitude of outputs built-in and it's in a neat, compact package with built-in lithium battery. I have a 10'000ma one I take with me hunting to charge my lights, cell phone, FLIR and other electronics. When I get to a place with power I just plug it in to recharge.

well, i had plenty of spare batteries at home which are highly underutilized and i rarely need to use a powerbank anyway , its just for emergency cases. Thus i decided to make one instead
