Depends on where you live. Different location can be different codes.
Adding your location to your profile will help in the future.

Along a wall space, every 1.8m max. No minimum. You could put one on every stud potentially, or an 8 gang box with 8 receptacles. Small walls count as wall space too so long as they are at least 900mm wide.
I highly suggest you go closer with them though. Receptacles draw no power when nothing is plugged in to them, go nuts and put them in everywhere for your own convenience.

@ Mr Awesome

Doesn't CEC limit how many receptacles you can have on a circuit? Or am I on drugs?

Nope you're stone sober Tolyn.
On a 15A circuit you can't load the breaker past 80%, leaves you with a 12A load, each rec. and light fixture (if unknown load eg. a keyless lampholder) counts as 1A so you can only have 12 rec. per circuit.
But you can buy the biggest damn tub you can find and put 40 rec. circuits in the house.
