120vac Motor Rotation ?

Hi , I'm hoping someone on here can help me out. I have a Jet JSG-96 Belt/Disc Sander. I would like to be able to reverse the rotation on the motor while using the disc sander.

I know this is possible for some 120 vac motors. I've checked the manual, the motor housing and googled for a wiring diagram and have not had any luck. If it is possible for this motor to reverse rotation and someone can help me identify which wires to swap and possibly recommend a switch to install for changing rotation it would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Jim

Below are pic's of the name plate on the sander and a pic of the wiring

Welcome to the forums.

Reverse the rotation on a disc sander ?

Is there an access door covering the wiring ? There may be a diagram on there.
Without seeing all the wiring from the motor we can't help you.

If that is a direct-drive sander I seriously doubt that you have the necessary wires to be able to reverse the rotation. IF you are willing to tear the motor apart and add another lead or two then it could be reversed but like PJ I don't see what the purpose would be. You would definitely not be able to use the belt sander portion with the motor running backwards as it would tear the joint apart.

Mate, with the wiring coming out of that motor, its not reversible. The only way to reverse it is to open the motor and re-organise the stator connection. Could be done but you have to know what ya doin....

You also have to be concerned with the arbor. Many models it is screwed on and running it in reverse will unscrew it. When run in the proper direction the rotation holds the arbor and disc tight without need for any special attachment.
