Too many junction boxes?

Is there a such a thing as too many junction boxes?

For instance, power to my living room goes into 2 junction boxes where they are spliced. This is before it gets to the first outlet.

No, no code or installation issue.

Junction boxes are typically advised against in residential situations because they are just another point of failure, and a box that needs to remain accessible. It's easy to 'lose' a junction box under insulation, behind boxes, etc. and often junction boxes are poorly wired by non-competent DIYers.

But a properly secured and wired junction is quite safe and the right solution in certain cases.
