Dead Socket with no power to breaker

I've got a dead socket that was working and the only thing on that circuit was the Microwave - all of a sudden it went dead. I replaced the socket to ensure that it wasn't causing the problem then I put a circuit breaker finder but with no power from the socket it was a waste of time. Next I looked for loose wires in the electrical panel and didn't find any. I also looked for loose breakers, which there wasn't any. The wire goes directly from the socket to the breaker without any breaks in between.

Does anyone have any other ideas other then a stick of dynamite?

Cheers
Scott

Breakers

Reset each circuit breaker by turning each one off and then on.

The receptacle (not socket) should either be GFCI or supplied from a GFCI. Have you tried resetting all GFCIs in and out and under of the house including ones hidden behind things that haven't been moved in years?

Also have you read: http://www.doityourself.com/forum/el...ther-info.html
