Installing longer cord to pool pump motor

All - I'm replacing the power cord on the pool pump motor in order for me to reach a dedicated outdoor outlet. The existing cord is 6' long and is labeled as a 3/C 18 AWG SJTW (300V / 105 degree C) VW-1 FT1 FT2.

I want to replace it with a substantially longer cord (maybe 30 feet). Am I able to use the same size cord (only longer) or do I need to go with a higher gauge? I'm pretty much a newbie so please be gentle. Thanks.

Why is that? Is there a hazard associated with a longer power cord?

After researching my answers I have deleted them. I think though putting a receptacle closer makes more sense.
