Hi,
I similar issue that’s driving me crazy. I have an outside pre-installed “AC power wire”, for power to a small surveillance camera if I wanted to mount one. Well I do and have tried but it seems as if I’m not getting enough power to power up my camera. The wire is “open end spliced” (black and red) in the area to mount the camera and “open end spliced” at the control panel in my house (where I connect the power plug, that comes with the camera, via splice) yet the camera will not power on. The camera works well and as it should when I re-connect it to its power plug directly. Can you help me with this issue or give me a little advice?

Welcome to the forums.
Moved you to your own thread as the other one was a little long and very old. We need a fresh start on your problem.
What size wire did they run for the camera ?
Is your adapter an AC or DC output power supply ?
Do you have a voltmeter ?
