Need help with GFI receptacle that won't work
Can't get GFI receptacle to work. Black to gnd = 120v. Black to white = 120v. White to gnd = 0.2v. Hooking black to brass "line" screw, and white to silver "line" screw. Receptacle is dead. Test / reset does nothing. What is problem?

Still have GFI problem
I have tried a brand new GFI receptacle. Still doesn't work.
Could I have neutral wire "partially shorted to ground somewhere? What to measure. Continuity and/or resistance (ohms) between white and ground with power off?

It's normal and expected for white/neutral to ground voltage readings to be 0v (or really close). So you're good there.
Are you sure you're pressing the reset button in far enough? I've found newer models have to be pressed in further to actually reset.

A GFCI doesn't need a ground to work properly. I measures the differential between the hot and neutral in milliamps. When that differential exceeds a threshold, it trips out. Check to make sure you have continuity from your neutral to the ground.
