Can this panel handle a 50A circuit?
Hello,
I was going to hire an electrician to do this but I cannot get a call back to save my life.
I just need to know if I can put a 50A double pole (for circuit to hot tub disconnect) in this panel. I'm not so much concerned with there being room because I will be removing the current 20A gfci breaker labeled hot tub (plug in 110 model) freeing up one pole, and also condensing 2 other single pole 20A circuits into a tandem slimline. (still two circuits on one pole). But my concern is the load. I don't know if I have 100A or 200A service. The upper right hand breakers are tied together and each have 100A. I think one feeds the left bus (correct term?) and one feeds the right? Does that mean a total of 200A? so confused on this point. There are no labels on the panel.
So finally, should I be worried about another heavy load? I don't ever see us having all the lights, dryer, furnace, hot tub, oven on all at the same time...and I really don't think that would still add up to 100A.
Any clarity, and guidance will be appreciated. Thank you!

Your panel has a capacity of 100 amps at 240 volts or 200 amps at 120 volts. Ignoring the breaker trip curve your breaker will trip at 100 amps on either or both legs. For example one leg at 90, other leg at 90 = fine. One leg at 0 and the other at 120 and breaker trips.

its 100 amp (it means 100 amp per leg - total 200 amps at 120V). The hot tub will pull 50 amps per leg - hence 100amps total.
I dont see a 240V oven on the panel anywhere - I do see a 240V dryer - they are typically 30 amp circuits although - whats the green / blue breakers rated at (the one with a nail thru it) ?
You already have 4 tandems in there. Whats the panel rated for in terms of tandems ? Should be on the sticker in the panel.
There are residential load calculation excel sheets available online to download - you can enter all of the relevant details and it will give you the min service required.
