Are GFCIs Made in America
Hopefully your landlord will replace this Chinese GFCI receptacle with a reputable American made brand.
#3
Off the top of my head, Leviton, Hubbell, Cooper (Arrow-Hart) and probably some others.
#4
I don't think Leviton or Cooper are USA made any longer. Hubbell perhaps but I would bet they too are Chinese made.
#5
A trip to 2 supply houses tells me P&S, Cooper, and Leviton devices are made in China. Square D and Siemens GFCI breakers are made in Mexico. GE's are made somewhere in Asia. (but not China) IIRC I have no clue where Hubbell makes their GFCI devices, but I do know a lot of their other products are USA made.

Hubbell makes some product in Ct. and some in Mexico according to their "Buy American" piece.

Why worry about he place of manufacture?
The ultimate retailer/distributor is the one responsible and most have to have the UL approved on them. that is what insures design, quality and uniformity.
The world is shrinking very quickly and electronics are easily shipped by air (usually). The same applies to technology, but just quicker.
If it is not accessible, for other products, scratch off most U.S. brand cars because of content, Walmart that has a fleet of super efficient ships for transport from China and your local hospital that have high-tech scanners, robotics for analysis and transplants. China has a one of the largest automotive production capacities and does not export any because of their demand and imports Mercedes,, BMW and Buicks(?) to make up the shortage.
I have lost 2 well experienced (20 years experience) doctors within 5 years that went to
India for better opportunities, so the planes go both directions.

Let the record show, I did not start this thread. It appears my account has either been hacked or some moderator has taken the liberty to post this with my handle. If its the later, no matter how mundane the topic, I think its poor practice and an overstep to be posting on the behalf of the users on this site without their permission.:NO NO NO::NO NO NO::NO NO NO:

It was separated from a thread that had veered off topic and was not directly helping the original poster. See: http://www.doityourself.com/forum/el...ing-power.html The first post is your post to the thread.

I get it Ray, no harm no foul. I thought I had been hijacked but relieved to see it was about GFCI's and not pornography or something.
My initial post in the other thread though was not really a question, or at least one I already didn't know the answer too..... its obvious gfci's are not made in the USA.

I am closing this thread... All context was taken from another thread and the continuity is just off IMO..
