"weatherproofing" lamp

I was recently looking at some pendant lamps on schoolhouseelectric.com=. They offer pendants that can be converted to meet UL damp rating requirements. The difference is only $10.

I'm wondering what it is they actually do. Any ideas? I have a similar lamp already that I would like to use as a porch light (under an eve, fairly protected). If it's something as easy as gaskets or a new box, I'd love to know if anyone here knows how.

Thanks.

Sean

It could be any number of things. Why not ask schoolhouse electric what the differences are ?
