Adding a second 220 VAC outlet to an existing Dryer outlet

Our laundry room is adjacent to the garage and I am considering adding an outlet for power tools from the dryer outlet. Can I do this and comply with code? I would intend to only use one device at a time!

No. The dryer needs a dedicated circuit. Run a new circuit or two to your shop.

Reducing dc voltage

OK here is what is going on. I have a 12 volt battery that is not movable. It is kept charged by a small solar panel. I would like to run a super small 6 volt motor off of this battery but the distance might be as much as 250 feet. Maybe as close as 50 ft. There are voltage reducers that will drop 12 volt to 6 volt. My question to you are as follows: 1. Would a long 12 volt wire run that reduces the voltage down to 6 volts be able to run the motor with no added reducers/converters? Amperage of the motor is unknown but it is just a very small motor that will only run for 10 seconds twice a day or something close to that. 2. Does a converter that is sold as 12 volt to 6 volt converter reduce an 8 volt supply to 6 volts or 4? 3. Suggestions. So I have the motor and an existing 12 volt system. What is the best way to supply the motor with or without using my existing 12 volt system. P.S. The motor is in the shade so a close by solar panel isn't going to help.Read More

Service Entrance cable and Sub-Panel questions

Replacing an old (undersized) breaker panel inside house and have to run a new service entrance cable to the new 200 amp panel. The inside panel is really a sub-panel since there is a main disconnect panel right next to the power meter outside. My plan is to run 2/0 copper or 4/0 aluminum SE cable to the new 200 Amp panel inside the house. Here are a few questions I was hoping someone could confirm for me: 1. Does the proposed wiring from the exterior disconnect look correct? The two hots connected to the lugs on the bottom of the disconnect and the ground and neutral ran from the ground/neutral bar in the disconnect panel? 2. Should the cable running from the exterior disconnect panel to where it enters the house be ran in conduit? If so, is 2" schedule 40 PVC okay? 3. There is a ground that runs from the exterior disconnect to the water pipe inside? Should I change this run and have it go from the new interior sub-panel to the water pipe instead?
