All of my ceiling fans are humming
House is 2 years old. All fans have hummed from the beginning but I have never looked into it. Now, it is driving me insane.
Fans are balanced. Fans don't wobble. The light bulbs aren't vibrating. The lighting housing isn't vibrating.
The most telling thing is...as SOON as you hit the wall switch to turn the fan off, the humming stops IMMEDIATELY even though the fan blades are still spinning for a long time. Also, the humming noise starts immediately as soon as you flip the switch on.
Also, if I turn the fan on low, and then hold the blades in place so the fan cannot spin.....the low frequency hum is still there! I'm guessing this must be some kind of electrical issue? I have no idea.
All of the ceiling fans in my house do this. WTF is going on?

I believe that is just normal motor noise,it is probably worst at low speed, try Ray's suggestion, if they are on speed controls make sure the fan itself is set on Hi speed using the pull chain.
