Wiring problem

Thanks in advance. Trying to wire a timer for our jacuzzi bath tub (just replacing the older one with a digital one). The timer has 4 wires: red, black, green, white.
My box has 2 black, one bare copper and a white. The white one is actually two whites connected together. When wiring I connected the green to the bare copper (ground) white to white and black to red and black to black. This did not work, so I interchanged the black and red.... Still no luck. I know the timer is functional. Any suggestions?

Welcome to the forums.

I know the timer is functional.
Is the timer listed to be used with motors or incandescent loads ?
Do you have a link to the timer you want to use ?

Thanks - does not even light up, so it seems it is getting no power at all.
You may be on to something. The timer rating is 15A/1800W resistive.
8.3A/1000W tungsten. 120 V.A.C. 1/4 HP
Not sure of the specs of our jacuzzi power
