Wiring an outlet/switch combo
In my attic there is an electrical box with a light socket/outlet combo. Currently I have a power strip plugged into the outlet and two fluorescent lights plugged into the power strip. To turn on the lights I need to plug in the power strip every time I go into the attic (and obviously unplug to turn them off):
What I thought I could do is replace the light socket combo with on of these switch/outlet combos:

Inside of box:
I guess my question is can I wire the switch/socket combo so that the switch controls the socket? And if so, how?
Thanks!

Connect the white wire to the silver screw on the device.
Add a ground wire (bare) to the ground in the box and connect to the green screw on the device
I can't see the other side of the device so I will have to assume the switch half has two screws.
Connect the black from the box to one screw of the switch. Connect a piece of wire from the other screw of the switch to the brass screw of the receptacle.
