Wow.... that is BIG !!

There is a recall sticky at the top of the electrical forum where I'll place a copy of your post but I want to leave this in general circulation for now due to the market share and the quantity of units recalled. I've personally installed 100's of the battery backup/electric models.

This is going to be a nightmare for electricians like me.

I just installed several Kidde. Luckily they are all battery only models.

I'm the electrical contractor at a condo association that was built approx. 15 years ago and each unit has 4-6 units and I've changed them in many units.

Oof. That's going to hurt. So how would handle such a situation?

The following is a direct link to the recall.

Apparently the following three....
1) Electric/battery smoke only with the 10 year built in battery.
2) The electric/battery combination smoke/carbon monoxide with the 10 year built in battery.
3) The electric/battery combination smoke/carbon monoxide with the replaceable 9v battery.

Kidde Inmar-Recalls | Step 1

(luckily I've only installed a small hand full of #3)

WOW! Several years ago our store stopped buying Kiddie alarms (we still carry the extinguishers) and went to Universal brand. I'm glad we don't need to handle the returns.
