I replaced a ceiling fan with a light fixture and since then the dimmer for the fixture no longer works. In the ceiling there are 2 blue wires and a white wire and at the switch there is 1 red and 1 blue wire. I did have a slight spark happen in the ceiling when I was connecting the wires, even though I had flipped the breaker for it (I then flipped the main breaker so there was nothing running in the house), not sure if that would somehow effect the wall outlet. The ceiling light does work if I put in bulbs, the dimmer cannot control the on/off though.

Are you sing an incandescent bulb? If CFL or LED bulb you must have a dimmer designed for them and even then it is a crap shoot. Have you tried a regular switch? Did you cap one of the blues at the light?

The bulbs are incandescent. I haven't tried a regular switch yet, guess I will have to try that. I did cap one of the blues at the light, should I try using the capped blue?
