Need Simple Electric Ballast and Circline Bulb Help
Well, I say simple because I know this is elementary for many of you!
In this video, I am trying to put this electric ballast + circline light together:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E5xmmZFb5r4
I have asked numerous Home Depot staff how and what do I need to purchase to put this together properly, and none of them had a clue lol. And I need to get this done ASAP.
I've also google searched for a tutorial, but everything leads to doing an actual hanging light fixture, and as you can see I don't need fixture AND I'm powering mine through regular home electric outlet.
So, if anyone with the experience can PLEASE tell me:
1. What material do I need to purchase.
2. And if you could tell me how to connect everything. (the wiring between bulb and ballast I want to do atleast 8 feet.)
Thanks for any help possible.

Simplest way would be to buy a cheap Circuline single tube fixture and strip it for parts. You would extend the original connector using 16-4 SOJ cord.. For safety it should be plugged into a GFCI receptacle.
I have two of those fixtures in my house but they are forty years old and all I'm seeing on line are two tube fixtures. Here is a ballast that would work http://www.shineretrofits.com/keysto...h-sockets.html You would then need to buy a circuline bulb. https://www.1000bulbs.com/category/f...2T4aAmzy8P8HAQ
I did only a quick search. If you buy ballast and bulb separate verify the bulb is for the ballast you buy.

ray, I'm confused about your response.. If I were to buy and strip the parts out of a fixture.. are you then saying to extend the power cord side using the 16-4 SJO cord?
Then what do I use to extend the bulb cord side?
Or is it possible somebody could tell me the exact items I could go to Home Depot at buy, PLEASE.

You would extend the bulb connector the 16-4. You only need 16-3 for the line in.
Be better to order ballast and bulb on line so you can be sure you are getting the right parts or go to a lighting store.

This is a typical ballast.
You would have to cut the connector wires about half way and splice in the 16-4 SOJ. The problem is any way you did it would not be code compliant. The ballast would need to be contained in a junction box, probably a a 6x6 PVC. One splice could be in there. On the other end you would have to use a small plastic project box (available at electronic hobby supply house) or maybe a plastic pill bottle. With luck you might be able to fasten the SOJ cord to the female connector that would be best but looking at the connector on the Circuline ballast I have I see no way to do that. Bottom line anything you do would be hack job and I can't recommend doing it for reasons of safety.
However if you have a $100 budget for the project you might look a LED retrofit bulbs that don't need a ballast. http://www.amazon.com/CIRCLINE-REPLA.../dp/B00EPQ7GCA
