Romex Stapled to Rafters in accessible attic?

Hi, I have an accessible attic and I'm running lights up there. The easiest way to do this would be to staple ROMEX to the roof rafters. It would be out of the way but I can't figure out whether it's code or not. I read 320.23 in the NEC Code and from my understanding, I can staple this across the ceiling as long as it's running parallel to them. If anyone can provide some guidance, I would appreciate it. Thanks

Do you have a framed roof with dimensional lumber or a truss roof?

You could always staple to a furring strip running board.

When we built our house the electrician ran all the wiring from the panel in the basement up to the attic and stapled to trusses then down the walls to the outlets.

Hello, thanks for response. The roof is framed with dimensional lumber. As I read more of the NEC code, I think I should be able to run along the rafter ... I'm not so sure about the ridge board though.
