UF-B Cable question

I understand that if you run cable down through the spaces of concrete block you should use UF-B because of damp conditions. I was wondering about a cable running down a wood stud exterior wall that ultimately serves an exterior outlet? Does the code indicate UF-B for that as well? My son bought a home built in 1987 in Orlando, FL. This outlet was surely added after the home was built. Wondering if it was done the "right" way. Thank you.

NM can typically be run in the stud bay and into the back of a box mounted on the exterior of a wall. If the NM were run on the outside of the exterior it would be a code violation.

UF-B is not required in wood framed walls, even if it serves an exterior receptacle, unless that receptacle is not attached to the wall. If it runs under a patio, etc. then it would need to be in conduit or UF used.
