Anyone know the name of this connector?

Hey everyone I'm new to the forum. I'm trying to find out the name of this connector anyone ever seen it before? Its the component side connector i'm trying to find out about. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forums.

You haven't filled in your area you live in. That looks like something that would be used in the UK wiring system...... a Europlug.

The plug is Australian, Argentinan, Chinese or Kiwi. Given the orientation of the plug (slanted up) I'd say its Chinese.

I have seen similar connectors used on boats to connect to shore power although normally the ground is not exposed like the one in the photo. So it might be worth looking from that angle. The other would be a stage lighting connector maybe.

Momentary switch routing/wiring

I am building a darkroom in my basement and would like to have a "white light" or inspection light at the end of the sink, controlled with a momentary switch. There is a stainless sink that backs on the wall, so I need to run the wire from the foot switch to the light between the walls (the backside is not closed yet). Can I have SOOW wire go directly from the switch to the light, which would mean running it in the wall, I believe I have have to use NMD for the section in the wall? If I use NMD, can I have a plug at the floor level that would in fact be two hots or travelers with the neutral only factoring in at the ceiling portion? I am guessing there is some code rule against using a standard plug that has two hots and an interrupter plugged in to it, so maybe there is a better way to wire the switch or a special plug that could not be mistaken for a household plug.Read More

Can I add 12/2 to 15Amp circuit with 14/2 cable.....explanation below

I have several project on my To-DO list that I am doing as I "move" from one section of my house to the next....However, I also have "full-house" projects, like running new wires. I am currently working in my bedroom with exposed studs for another reason so I could take advantage of it and lay new cables that are 12/2....however, that room is on the same circuit as other bedrooms at 15Amps and with 14/2 wires running. Eventually I will get to the other ones and upgrade the wires to 12/2 and link it all to a 20A breaker. Assuming I will get to the other rooms in about 2 months - is it OK for me to simply add the larger gauge wire on the same circuit as the smaller gauge considering that throughout I am pulling 15Amps? Thanks! If not - I will of course just do the job at once by snaking the new wires behind the walls....something a bit more challenging than the current option. PS: My main concern is code and regs...I don't believe there would be an actual safety issue...unlike if I were to put 14 on 20ARead More
